#7 - Forest Views - Freshmen Class - 1940

In the Freshmen Class section of the Fairforest yearbook there is a pasted in group picture of the class on the first page and the page following has a listing of the students. (As previously noted in the post about the Junior & Sophomore Class sections, the Junior, Sophomore and Freshman group photos were all originally glued on a blank page. With time, the glue deteriorated and all three of the group pictures fell out. I have re-attached the pictures to the pages using the best judgment of picture size and by comparing glue patterns on the picture back to the glue patterns on the page. I sincerely hope that I got it right.)

Below is the 1940 Fairforest High School Freshmen Class group picture as it appears in the yearbook. Below that is a closer view.

Also listed on the page above are three Seniors who were absent when the yearbook pictures were made. They were Louise Dunn, Margaret Dickson and Aline Graham. I found a picture of Louise Dunn in Mama's photo album, so I will put Louise's 1939 pre-graduation picture here.

#2 - Forest Views - The First Edition - 1940

According to the text under the picture of Superintendent Walter F. Mobley, the Fairforest High 1940 yearbook was the first Forest Views. The Class of 1940 dedicated this first edition of Forest Views to Mr. Mobley. The photo above is from the front cover of this soft bound yearbook. Below is the first page in the 1940 Forest Views which is a picture of Walter F. Mobley and the dedication text.

#1 - My Mother's Alma Mater - Fairforest High School

Fairforest High, located in Spartanburg, Spartanburg County, South Carolina, is where my mother, Betty Hadden, graduated in 1940. There were only 11 grades back then.

I have been scanning Mama's photo albums and decided to publish her Forest Views yearbook in this blog as a tribute her and her fellow classmates.

Here is a picture of Betty Louise Hadden Garrett (1923-2000) taken a couple of years after she graduated from Fairforest.
